You heard of Mandorli yet? The 19 year old Breaks/GlitchHop producer from Austria has just released his debut EP on Canadian bass master Jpod's label, Swing Set Sounds. Not only is his first release on one of the best glitch-funk labels around, its also the first release on the label that has not been produced or remixed by Jpod. That's got to be telling you something, right? Mandorli's music draws from jazz, hip hop and dubstep elements, which are all present and correct in healthy doses in the title track,'Pico'. Funky percussion flits around a slamming break and a insanely catchy bass riff before dropping perfectly into some uplifting swing piano. A quick dose of the Charleston and the hefty beats and bass bang back in and carry the track to its finale. 'Hot Again' just oozes funk and sits somewhere in the grounds where hip hop swagger meets jazz funk and glitch, while they all end up in a heavy, lazer bass pot, mixed up with sultry female vocal snippets, bleeps, beeps and fx. The Pico EP is out now. 'Unexpected Endings' starts with an almost apocalyptic bass intro before churning out some heavy wobbles and spaced out 8-bit fx. This is just as good as the two tracks included on the EP so what are you waiting for...?
This one is to good to wait for the Nufunk round up. Timothy Wisdom has made this wicked track sampling Ann Robinson's "You Did It" funk tune and heavily inspired by an A Skillz mashup. His own version has dirty, filthed up bass that is going to cause mayhem when it fires from the system and classic horns, beats and samples from some of the funkiest jams known to man.
